Academic Honesty*

Part of the value of your degree from Global University lies in your standard of academic honesty and integrity. It is important that you understand how academic misconduct (cheating) is defined, your rights as a student, and the expectations of the University.

You have the right to expect that you will be graded fairly, but you also have an obligation to conduct your academic work with honesty and integrity according to University standards. Academic honesty requires that the course work (reports, examinations, papers) you present to an instructor honestly and accurately represent your own academic efforts.

Academic misconduct occurs when you:

Claim credit for the work or efforts of another person without authorization or citation.
Use fabricated data in any academic exercise.
Forge or falsify academic records.
Assist other students in any of these acts.

Plagiarism means presenting the words or ideas of others without giving credit. You should know the principles of plagiarism and the correct rules for citing sources. If your paper implies that you are the originator of ideas, they must in fact be your own. If you are unsure about the proper way to give credit to sources, consult the appropriate Global University Form & Style Guide (see below) or The Writing Center.
